Works In Process

This section contains two different projects that reveal their inspiration and process in distinct ways and formats. The Boats project is focused on encaustic, text and origami. The Pandemic project uses collage and thread. The process and inspiration for constructing the wall of boats is chronicled in this short video. It begins with a wall in a Seoul, South Korea tea shop.

Years later in 2020, at the beginning of the pandemic, I decided to make a collage every day for a year, using a lifetime of sketches, drawings and pattern design. In this collection of 365 collages, all have a sewn component. The stitching and needle holes revealed on the back of each piece provide an additional design element, perforating each piece with light. The first video is a time lapse of me constructing a collage. The six remaining videos show the entire collection, in sequence, while turning each page.
