When visiting Gayle’s Bakery in Capitola, customers take a paper ticket to order their pastries or food. These tickets are usually placed in a basket on the counter top after the customer is served. I thought it would be interesting to collect them for a month, for a work entitled, A Month at Gayles. I asked Gayle if she would have her staff collect them for me. Yes, she replied, but a month would need a mac truck. They use 1500 numbers every day. I settled for less, and began to put them in bundles of twenty and sew them into packets. The result is these containers of repeated elements.
