Dashes and Dots at Michaelangelo Gallery

I attended the opening on of Dashes and Dots at the Michelangelo Gallery. The exhibition has nothing to do with the Morse Code. It has everything to do with abstraction and portraiture. The show exhibits the beautiful and beguiling work of Fanne Fernow and Kathleen Crocetti.

Fanne is the dots person, and Kathleen the dashes. The unifying elements are that they both work in encaustic, and both use a hot wax stylus pen, which they wield in masterful ways. Their work also embodies “Encaustic With a Textile Sensibility”, i.e. relating or referential to textiles, repetition of elements, woven grid, etc. Both show OCD tendencies in the best sense of the phrase.

Kathleen and Fanne will be giving an “Artist Talk” Reception, on Friday, May 19th, 6:00PM to 7:00PM at Michelangelo Gallery.

Go see this show-it is spectacular!
